Let me get this straight…

Just so I understand things, please stop me when I’m wrong about something. Truthfully, I’m old enough to be corrected, but not old enough to be so entrenched in my views to shun change.

Rich, white men in North America gathered and defeated the territorial master called King George. Yay.

In 1861, the Confederacy decided to leave the union because their economy was unsustainable if they were forced to abandoned the abhorrent practice of slavery. They lost and resents it to this day. Boo.

In 1964, what should have been simple logic was forced to actually be written into law. Stop discrimination. Yay.

Enter the modern Republican Party. Believe it or not, that party used to BE the progressive party. Hell, Lincoln himself was a Republican. But something happened. They lost their way. They lost some elections, and instead of pushing forward into the modern society in which they live, they retreated into the past. Boo.

The modern Republican Party looks to cater to those who openly speak against the values this nation has accumulated along the way. Discrimination and prejudice now defines them. They abhor anything that is non-white, whether it be from the right to vote (as now, even Lindsey Graham is seeking to eliminate votes from populations made up of minorities), to even questioning the birth certificate of the nation’s first black president. Boo.

The Democrats have their problems, too. They look to put so many regulations into place that regular commerce is so expensive that businesses have no choice but to seek a workforce elsewhere. Boo.

But now, we have a man who would be King. A man, who is so egomaniacal and such a despot wannabe, that he is torching everything in his wake. That man is Donald Trump. Because people of the Republican Party see an ‘R’ after his name, they feel they have no choice but to support him. Families have been torn apart. People of honor have had that honor tarnished or removed entirely having supported this man. Why?

The answer to this question is not because of his beliefs. He doesn’t have any. He is the modern day Niccolo Machiavelli. The ends justifies the means. He never actually expected to win. But he did. And he grew so powerful that he viewed himself as untouchable.

We all know how he ignored the pandemic. No one with an ounce of sense can defend that stance. But he waited…and watched. He studied the effect the pandemic had on the populous. He lucked into seeing a vocal minority stand up and say ludicrous things like masks prohibited freedom. And there, like a remora to a shaft, he attached.

He found that he had a great deal to gain from the the part of the populous that didn’t have the intelligence to understand true medical science, and he rallied to their cause. He all but adopted those groups who argued that racism was okay. Again and again he failed to denounce groups such as the Proud Boys, and they gathered behind him.

But he also had the rich behind him. Why?, Well, he’s rich, and the party for whom he had been nominated is historically more affluent than the rest of society. And he had the Republican Party by the balls because they couldn’t contradict him because their individual constituencies believed in the economic policies touted by historical Republican values. But they now share the same bed with the racist groups that are historically pro-gun and anti-anything else.

So where does that leave us? There will be Trumpers after this is over. They will continue to infest and take over the Party unless something is done to ostracize them. So the question is what will the modern Republican Party really look like over the next four years? I have no idea.

I have a degree in Government and Politics. I’ve studied all the philosophers of every style of governance. Every one of them is flawed. Every one of them looks fantastic on paper, but doesn’t work out when human beings are actually taken into account. Every single one of them has a method of destroying them. Either through logic or force, there’s a kill-switch in there somewhere. Monarchy and Despotism has tyrannicide. Oligarchy and Theocracy has revolution.

Is Trump the kill-switch of the Republic?
